Diabetes educators are health professionals who specialize in the treatment and education of people with diabetes.  The educator’s goal is to help you learn to make the lifestyle changes necessary to manage your diabetes and live a more healthy life.

Certified Diabetes Educators, or CDEs, have passed an examination given by the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators.  Only health professionals with the required degrees and experience can sit for this exam.  CDEs must be re-certified every five years to show that their knowledge is up-to-date.
